Queens Of The Stone Age Split Confirmed
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE are in danger of breaking up following the news bassist NICK OLIVERI and singing collaborator MARK LANEGAN have both left the rock group.
The GO WITH THE FLOW band are in turmoil after frontman JOSH HOMME became increasingly fed up with bassist Oliveri's wild behaviour.
Following unconfirmed reports of a split yesterday (11FEB04), a statement from the band says, "A number of incidents occurring over the last 18 months have led to the decision that the two can no longer maintain a working partnership in the band."
It's unclear whether Homme will continue with the group - famed for its revolving door line-up - without longtime musical partner OIiveri, but website NME.COM reports the guitarist as stating he hasn't yet had time to think about a replacement.
Cult musician Lanegan has confirmed he has left to concentrate on touring his forthcoming sixth solo album, BUBBLEGUM.
A statement on his website reads, "Mark is officially no longer playing with Queens Of The Stone Age as to devote more time to his own band."13/02/2004 19:15
