Prince Charles Wins Court Ruling
British royal PRINCE CHARLES today (17MAR06) won a British High Court ruling barring further publication of extracts taken from his journal. Judge WILLIAM BLACKBURNE, presiding at London's High Court, ruled Charles could sue for damages after British newspaper the Mail On Sunday printed snippets taken from the heir-to-the-throne's 1997 Hong Kong diary. However, Judge Blackburne was unwilling to block the publication of seven other journals belonging to the 57-year-old, allegedly sold by a former employee. Sir Michael Peat, principal private secretary to Charles, says, "The judge has indicated that he would like to read the journals before reaching a final decision. This will entail a short further hearing on points of law." But the royal adviser is certain his employer will be spared a visit to the witness stand: "The Prince Of Wales will not be required to give evidence. In short, an excellent outcome."
