Polanski Tops Deauville Jury
Director Roman Polanski is set to judge films from the very country he fled decades ago - when he takes on the role of jury president at France's DEAUVILLE FESTIVAL OF AMERICAN FILM.
The Pianist director, who fled the United States in 1978 after he was convicted of the statutory rape of a 13-year-old girl, will preside for the first time over the ceremony.
And while this is Polanski's first time leading the proceedings at Deauville, he headed the Cannes Film Festival jury in 1991 when the COEN brothers' Barton Fink won the coveted PALME D'OR. He also headed the VENICE FILM FESTIVAL jury in 1996.20/05/2003 21:19
