Pointer Sister Goes Public With Family Fight

Tragic POINTER SISTERS star JUNE POINTER's siblings are squabbling over the SLOW HAND singer's last wishes. Sister BONNIE POINTER, who co-founded the Pointer Sisters with June, has gone public with her bitter feelings towards her siblings after they allegedly ignored June's wishes not to be cremated. In an interview with US news show Entertainment Tonight, which will air later today (04MAY06), Bonnie Pointer insists her sister hated the idea of being cremated because she felt it would be like "burning in hell". She rages, "They (siblings) said they couldn't afford to bury her in a regular grave." Bonnie Pointer explains she was then left heartbroken at her sister's funeral last month (APR06), when she was told she wouldn't be able to ride in the family car. She adds, "I'm upset about that, that really hurt my feelings. I want them to know it, too. The day was about June, it wasn't about how they felt about me." Relations between Bonnie and her sisters, RUTH and ANITA, were soured when she left the group to pursue a solo career. The two sisters later kicked June out of the act when her cocaine addiction became a big problem. June battled with drug abuse problems throughout the 1990s and was charged with felony cocaine possession and misdemeanour possession of a smoking device in 2004. Bonnie admits she has always been close to June, who lost her battle with cancer on 14 April (06), because the two were always together as they struggled to survive after the Pointer Sisters heyday. She adds, "I loved her with all my heart. She was so strong, so vibrant, and so beautiful. I miss her so much."
