Pixar Threatening To Leave Disney Deal

PIXAR ANIMATION STUDIOS has threatened to take its lucrative distribution contract away from DISNEY unless new contracts can be agreed.

Pixar, responsible for box office hits including MONSTERS INC and TOY STORY, is on the brink of seeing its production FINDING NEMO become the biggest animated film ever in America.

STEVE JOBS, chief of Pixar, wants to change current arrangements so the animator no longer shares cost and profit with a distributor's fee to Disney.

Under these proposals, the distribution fee will remain - but Pixar will pay for the entire film, and then receive all box office earnings.

Pixar is contractually bound to deliver two more films to Disney - THE INCREDIBLES, due next year (04), and CARS in 2004, but Jobs is already arranging meetings with several other studios.
