Peta Target Longoria After Hunting Boasts

Animal activists at People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals are urging gun-toting US Vice-President Dick Cheney to take actress Eva Longoria hunting with him - to teach her a lesson for boasting about her bloodthirsty past.

PETA bosses are outraged by the DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star's hunting boasts and have placed the pint-sized actress on their hit list with fur wearers and animal tormentors.

The activists are particularly upset with Longoria's recent revelations on Oprah Winfrey's daytime talk show, in which she boasted, "I can skin a deer and a pig and a snake - and rabbits," when asked about her childhood hunting expeditions with her hard-up dad.

And now they suggest she should hit the trails with Cheney, who accidentally shot a pal on an expedition last week (ends10FEB06) - to get a taste of how tracked creatures feel when they become targets of shoot-'em-up hunters.

PETA spokesman MICHAEL McGRAW says, "If Eva is set on going hunting, we hear Vice-President Cheney is looking for a new partner."

But the animal rights group's president, INGRID NEWKIRK, is taking Longoria's boasts far more seriously - she has fired off a letter to the actress, urging her to cease talking about her hunting past as if it's medal of honour.

In investigating Longoria, Newkirk has also discovered images of the Latina wearing fur - and she's also asking the actress to give that up too.

Newkirk writes, "Although you have many fans here at PETA, we were disappointed to see photographs of you wearing fur at a variety of recent events.

"We are writing to ask you to please reconsider wearing fur. It would be a tremendous help to animals if you'd establish a 'no-fur' policy."

Newkirk has sent the actress a harrowing new PETA video expose of the Chinese fur industry, hosted by Nine Inch Nails frontman TRENT REZNOR - in a bid to make Longoria think twice before donning animal skin.

Teddy Roosevelt was the father of Conservation. He HUNTED.Peta and the organizations that support it as well as the Hollywood Elitists who promote the Vegan life, have never spent one penny to return Turkeys to the wild areas of a state, to buy land to prevent it from being developed, to protect habitat for animals. YET they believe that Hunting and Hunters are cruel. What is more cruel the extinction of a species due to loss of habitat, or Saving that habitat so that future generations can experience the thrill of seeing an animal in the wild.Hunters buy land and save it from Development.Hunters and Fishermen contribute tax dollars to State Fish and Wildlife agencies so that animals can be protected. PETA and the Elitists do NOT.General Norman Schwartzkopf said it best "Teaching a kid to fish and to hunt will keep him off drugs and out of trouble." Pythagoras was wrong. Hunting does not promote killing. Hunting teaches what killing is. It teaches a child that DEAD is DEAD you dont get up and walk away from it and appear in a movie a few weeks later. IT IS PERMANENT, and teaches them to cherish the life God has given. Man has been eating meat and hunting since the beginning of time. Man is PART of the Ecosystem. Failure to hunt animals like Panthers and Cougars is why they are attacking people in suburban areas. These animals have not been hunted for over 50 years and they no longer know the fear of man. Animals that have killed people in the past have returned to walk right up to the people hunting them, with no regard for the weapons they carried. Hunting is necessary to prevent over grazing in parks and to prevent Deer and other animals from over populating and dying of Starvation. Ever seen a 2 year old dear that weighed 40 pounds? If you think Paris Hilton is skin and bones you should see that. Hunters prevent animals from starving and control the herds. Would you hollywood types like to have cougars and panthers running around again? They do in California and a couple of bike riders and joggers can tell you what it feels like to be PREY!Other than predators who is going to control the population of wild animals. WHO IS GOING TO FEED the wild animals when there are too many of them? Who is going to grow crops to feed them when they are hungry?PETA.. get a real life.. you are NOT after KFC to get them to change the way they treat chickens, you want to put them out of business so that you can take your EXTORTION CAMPAIGN on the road. Eat a Chicken .. Piss off PETA! GO KFC!

taliesson:I was really appauled to read Longaria has been hunting since she was six.  What is worse, a family needing to hunt in order to eat, or the hunt itself? Which would you fix first?Very sad indeed, that anyone hunts. Hunters do more for conservation than ANY other group of people in the world. They trek through our land and report their observations to our government's wildlife managers, allowing them to do their jobs better. It is through hunter's conservation efforts that many areas still have a viable eco-system.It is a cruel and unnecessary activity. A clean kill is no crueler than slaughtering an animal for its meat in a processing plant. Many of the predators in North America are gone from their habitats. Deer and other game soon multiply and will eat all the food in a habitat. Is it more humane to let an animal starve due to lack of food or to kill it cleanly? There are families in the US that depend upon hunting for their own survival. Should they starve, or will you personally ensure that they have enough to eat?Its not a sport, because for it to be a sport, two parties have to consent to it. Are you saying that animals have the intelligence to consent? Does a mountain need to give its consent to a climber? Does the water need to give its consent to a swimmer? Does the snow need to give its consent to a skier? Do the animals of the forest need to give their consent to campers, and hikers? There are dozens of famous people who think so. Do you accept everyone's word about any subject, or do you take the time to research the facts before making a decision? Please check out the animal rights groups, not by visiting their websites and reading their propaganda, but by digging deeper under the facades. Do the same for hunters. I highly recommend taking the on-line bow hunter education course. Find out what we stand for before condemning our actions. If you still don't agree, you'll at least have made an informed decision, and have more ammunition to fight us.

For as long as people massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, those who sow the seed of murder and pain will never reap joy or love." Pythagoras

Hunting has a long and proud tradition in human history, hunting offers the best tasting and most nutritious form of protein available. For these terrorist groups to try a threaten anyone that enjoys hunting or is proud of there hunting heritage is sleazy and shameful.Eva, hang in there and tell these whacko’s that have lost touch with the real world to mind their own business. You have gained much more support then you will ever loose, we hunters are behind you 100%.
