Pearl Jam Given Go-Ahead To Play In Sao Paulo
American rockers PEARL JAM have been given the go-ahead to perform in Sao Paulo by the Brazilian city's mayor, following weeks of doubts.
Mayor JOSE SERRA had suspended shows in Pacaembu after residents living in the wealthy neighbourhood near the city's biggest stadium complained about noise and mess.
For Pearl Jam's 2 and 3 December (05) concerts to go ahead, Serra set a list of demands. The show must finish at 9.45pm sharp and rehearsals must take place during the day for just 30 minutes. A special police operation will be mounted to maintain security and the organisers must clean up the stadium and the surrounding streets.
Pearl Jam's South American tour starts on 22 November (05) in Santiago, Chile. It then goes to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and ends in Mexico City on 9 December (05). In Brazil, the band will also appear in Porto Alegre, Curitiba and Rio De Janeiro.
