Paul Newman Donates To Ravaged Kansas Town
Actor Paul Newman has made a "generous" donation to the southeast Kansas town of Franklin, ravaged by a tornado in May (03).
THE COLOR OF MONEY star Newman, 78, sent a personal cheque to the FRANKLIN COMMUNITY COUNCIL INCORPORATED, along with his wishes for continued success.
Resident PHYLLIS BITNER says, "We decided that it would be best not to give the exact figure, but it was a lovely, generous amount. We haven't earmarked the money yet for a specific project, but it will go a long way toward something."
A tornado hit Franklin, a town of about 500 residents, on 4 May (03), destroying about a third of the homes and levelling the community centre and post office.
