Owen's Estranged Father Backs His Oscar Chances
CLOSER star CLIVE OWEN's estranged father is demanding the ACADEMY AWARDS honour his son with the Best Supporting Actor prize this year (05) - because he "deserves" it.
JESS OWEN - who walked out on the British actor when he was three-years-old and last saw him 21 years ago - is convinced Clive will beat JAMIE FOXX and MORGAN FREEMAN to land an OSCAR, insisting no one can rival his son's performance.
Owen says, "He deserves the Oscar. I don't know much about movies but I thought Clive was amazing in Closer.
"I haven't liked everything he's done but I always see his films and I thought Closer was unbelievable.
"They'll give him the Oscar, I think."30/01/2005 10:29
