Oscar-Winning Writer Battles For His Dark Materials Script
OSCAR-winning writer SIR TOM STOPPARD has slammed film-maker CHRIS WEITZ for stopping his adaptation of PHILIP PULLMAN best-seller HIS DARK MATERIALS from making it to the big screen.
The SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE author claims AMERICAN PIE film-maker Weitz's coming on board as director has halted any further progress of his first installment of the fantasy epic, THE GOLDEN COMPASS, from being accepted as the movie's script.
Stoppard says, "As far as I was made aware, NEW LINE CINEMA and Philip Pullman all liked it.
"Then Chris Weitz got the job. And he likes to write his own scripts."21/11/2004 14:36
