Orbital Fans Campaign For Bigger Send-Off13 May 2004
The CHIME hitmakers - comprising of Kent, south England musicians PAUL and PHIL HARTNOLL - are slated to headline the 'Other Stage' at the annual British summer music event on 27 June (04).
The group announced they plan to split following the release of their final album THE BLUE ALBUM later this year (04) and fans want to give them the best farewell possible on the large 'Pyramid Stage'.
The petition posted on PETITIONONLINE.COM reads, "We, the following, are shocked that the organisers of the Glastonbury Festival have booked Orbital to play on the second stage this year. Orbital are one of the bands that have made Glastonbury great over the years and we feel that as they have decided to do their last ever gig at the festival this year the least they deserve is to play the Pyramid Stage."
The Orbital boys admit they're flattered by the appeal, but realise the decision lies with Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis.
Paul says, "I'm really touched, actually. I've just found out and it's quite overwhelming. But it's up to Michael Eavis, I'll go wherever he tells me. Tell them to campaign to get us an extra 20 minutes. That would be better."13/05/2004 20:58
