Oasis Produce 'Greatest Album Of All Time'

British rockers Oasis have created the Greatest Album Of All Time after their debut LP DEFINITELY MAYBE was voted top in a poll of UK music fans. The collection, which boasts hit singles Live Forever and CIGARETTES + ALCOHOL, beat the likes of SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND by THE Beatles and Radiohead's OK COMPUTER. The album was released 12 years ago (94) and went straight to number one in the UK charts. Another Oasis classic - (WHAT'S THE STORY) MORNING GLORY? - was voted number five in the survey organised by the book of British Hit Singles and Albums and music magazine site NME.com. The newest record in the Top 100 list is troubled rocker Pete Doherty's 2002 debut effort UP THE BRACKET with his former band The Libertines, at number 15. The top 10 Greatest Albums Of All Time are as follows: 1. DEFINITELY MAYBE - OASIS 2. SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND - THE BEATLES 3. REVOLVER - THE BEATLES 4. OK COMPUTER - RADIOHEAD 5. (WHAT'S THE STORY) MORNING GLORY? - OASIS 6. NEVERMIND - NIRVANA 7. THE STONE ROSES - THE STONE ROSES 8. DARK SIDE OF THE MOON - PINK FLOYD 9. THE QUEEN IS DEAD - THE SMITHS 10. THE BENDS - RADIOHEAD.

I would not dispute that oasis have some creditablity in music but i wouldnt even compare then with the Monkees, who were bloody brillaint compared to them, and they were a manufactured group. The problem today is there is no good opposition music. In the 60s we had the Stones, the Small Faces, The Who and they all looked up to the Beatles which made them good musicians in their own right! Today there is nothing! So the kids think Oasis are good. Who is ever forgetting the unforgetable Abba too. They were in a world of their own in the 70s.And Abba never came close to The Beatles. So whoever voted for Oasis really dont have a clue about music.

I agree! I too am 46, and the Beatles compare to no one. Will Oasis in 43 years still be mentioned as the top LP? I doubt it. It just happens that younger kids have nothing better to do but vote in polls.

I'm 46 and caught the tail end of the Beatles as a child and to this day have heard NOTHING that even compares to them in quality and originality. Oasis my ass!
