Rock phenomenon the ARCTIC MONKEYS' have been beaten to the top of the UK singles chart by slain rapper NOTORIOUS BIG, despite their album today (20JAN06) being crowned Britain's fastest-ever selling debut.
NASTY GIRL, a collaboration between Notorious BIG, DIDDY and NELLY takes the premiere position, after moving up from second place. While the Arctic Monkey's THE SUN GOES DOWN slides to number two. Former DESTINY'S CHILD star BEYONCE KNOWLES' SLIM THUG featuring track CHECK ON IT comes in third, while HI-TACK's SAY SAY SAY moves from number eight to number four. The fifth spot is claimed by former POP IDOL winner WILL YOUNG and his hit ALL TIME LOVE.
Meanwhile the album charts are lead by Arctic Monkeys' WHATEVER PEOPLE SAY THAT I AM, THAT'S WHAT I'M NOT after selling a record 363,735 units since it's Monday release (23JAN06). The second position is taken by former THE VERVE frontman RICHARD ASHCROFT's sophomore solo offering KEYS TO THE WORLD with a respectable sales figure of 75,000 discs.
