No Theatre For Travolta
Movie star JOHN TRAVOLTA is refusing to follow his peers onto the New York and London stages anytime soon - because plays are too much hard work.
In recent years a slew of top names like NICOLE KIDMAN, KEVIN SPACEY, GWYNETH PALTROW and MATT DAMON have honed their acting art by returning to the theatres of Manhattan's Broadway or London's West End, but Travolta has no plans to test his stage talents again.
He says, "With theatre, I do believe you can get burned out with eight shows a week for a year. It's mind-boggling.
"Film has a designated period of time where the beginning, middle and end are known, and if you like the material that you've chosen to do, and you like the story, the character, the people you've chosen to work with - even if it went off track - you can still love it.
"I can't imagine ever getting tired of film. In theatre, yes. I grew up with it and, after a while, it's hard work more than it is a creative thing."23/09/2004 02:26
