Newman Shuns Political Retirement
Actor Paul Newman has blasted reports he'll occupy his retirement running against his home state Connecticut's Democratic senator DONALD WILLIAMS.
The liberal COOL HAND LUKE veteran is terrified about America's future under President George W Bush's leadership, but he has no plans to enter the political arena himself.
Newman, 80, says, "It'd be lunatic to try to get into politics at my age. I don't think I'd have the stomach for it."
However, the actor does admit he's wary of Bush's motives.
He adds, "I wish I felt a little more comfortable about the direction that we're going. It does not seem to be of the people, by the people and for the people. It seems to be about something else completely different."
