Neil Simon Has Kidney Transplant

Playwright NEIL SIMON is recovering after receiving a kidney transplant from his friend and publicist BILL EVANS.

Simon, 76, has been undergoing dialysis treatments three times a week for 18 months.

Evans, 53, who is also recovering at a New York hospital, has known Simon for 25 years and has worked with him on many plays, including BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS, LOST IN YONKERS and THE GOODBYE GIRL.
