Mute Math Sue Warner Bros

US rockers MUTE MATH are taking legal action against Warner Bros and Word Records for breach of contract and negligent misrepresentation after being marketed as a Christian act against their will. The group were started by keyboardist PAUL MEANY, formerly of devout Christian group EARTHSUIT, and they boast a primarily church-going fanbase. But the hitmakers feared they would be marginalised if they were seen as a religious band, and were determined to shed their former image and break into the mainstream. Warner Bros are accused of ignoring their wishes and continuing to push their profile as blatantly Christian while promoting their eponymous debut album. Meany says, "I had no desire to be the Christian version of a real band. We wanted total mainstream credibility. "Warner Bros were yanking our chains. They were going to market (our album) the exact way we didn't want it."

does it really matter? they do what they want. it does not seem like they are embarassed/ashamed of anything or trying to deny anything. why can't they just make music? (good music, REAL music might i add) there are many talented christian artists ministering out in the world through their music... but because they are known as "christian artists" they've set for themselves this boundary. if you think about it, the people who listen to christian artists are well...mostly christian. by going out into the secular world with their music, i feel that mute math is truly standing up for their beliefs. how can anyone say that mute math is not standing up for their beliefs or are embarassed about it if their lyrics are clearly or at least very...spiritual? theyre beaaautiful. MUTE MATH OWNS. I SUPPORT MUTE MATH ALL THE WAYYYYY.

I am completely dissapointed in Mute Math. I met these guys and had a great time hanging out and talking to them. You can still market you music in the secular world and stand for what you believe. It sounds like they are more for the money than standing up for what they believe. So who care if you are known as a christian band. What is the main purpose here on earth? To win souls for christ. Why are they embarrassed to do that. I will no longer be supporting them in the journey
