Mottola Buys Rights For Rap Tv Show

Music mogul TOMMY MOTTOLA has snapped up the TV rights to the book QUEENS REIGNS SUPREME: FAT CAT, 50 CENT AND THE RISE OF THE HIP-HOP HUSTLER.

Author ETHAN BROWN used police wiretaps and interviewed drug kingpins and hip-hop insiders to tell the story of rap's rise in the 1980s and 1990s. And now the former Sony Music boss plans to create a series of television programmes chronicling the genre's growing cultural influence.

Mottola says, "Having lived the ins and outs of all the characters, as much or more than just about anybody in the entire business, the book resonated for me in a big way."

The book is set in the housing projects of south east Queens, New York City, which has proved a hotbed for emerging rap talent.

Mottola will serve as executive producer alongside JEB BRIEN.
