Moore Breaks British Box Office Records Again
Controversial director MICHAEL MOORE's political documentary FAHRENHEIT 9/11 is expected to become Britain's highest grossing documentary after breaking box office records in the UK.
The movie - which attacks American President GEORGE W BUSH's administration - opened on 132 British screens where it was greeted by standing ovations and has taken $2.4 million (GBP1.3 million) since its release on Friday (09JUL04).
The film became the first documentary to top the box office in America, where it has taken $80 million (GBP45 million) so far, and also scored the highest opener for a PALME D'OR winner, beating PULP FICTION at $1.3 million (GBP705,000).
Britain's previous highest opening weekend for a documentary was set by Moore's first film BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE, which took $300,000 (GBP158,000) in its first three days.12/07/2004 21:00
