Actually The Stone Roses, and later Oasis both claimed to be "bigger than the Beatles"! It seems to be a trend to get publicity every few years for the c**kiest band of the time in England.Although this list is basically some of my favorite albums ever made, it is pretty stupid considering growth in the population of the UK! That may have something to do with why so many albums have had a bigger debut than the Beatles.

It is beyond me for this question to be asked in the first place. It is like someone trying to compare a "wet behind the ears - new comer to the main stream of music" singer to Elvis. It is impossible to and I am stunded that anyone would even mention this question.I was not around for the arrival of the fab four but I was surrounded by them and their music with the three older brothers and an older sister that I had, playing their music along with all the other pioneers of rock and roll at that time. They appeard on Ed Sullivan around the year I was born.Where do these people come up with these laim/rediculas questions?Time will tell if they make a name/place for themselves in the music industry and the will not change the Beatles legacy in any way shape or form.As one comment read - "nuff said" on this.

to even compare any band to the beatles is a huge, gargantuan joke....no band has or will ever be as good as the beatles are....to this day their music is listened to as if they were a new group....beatles music has not only stood the test of time but is so good that kids today can't help but adore their music when they first hear it....there's nothing like a teens face when they first hear a beatles song they've never heard before...they are astonished and amazed at hearing this wonderful sound that they've never heard before....i remember when that happened to me when i received the single "penny lane/strawberry fields forever", as one of my gifts for christmas one year...i was completely smitten...i can't wait to do that for my own kids....

Lucky enough to have seen The Beatles and the other groups from my time, No one or group has ever come close to The Beatles. I think all this hype has to do with the idea of the surviving Beatles letting their great artistic work being available soon to download (leagally) on line and their music hasnt been re-mastered since 1986. There will be a new wave of Beatlemania coming soon.....YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!

No way! Having seen the Ed Sullivan Shows and growing up thru the British Invasion there will never be another band to match the Beatles.

Unfortunately I am old enough to remember the nauseatingly familiar projectile vomitous being spewed forth in the late 70's when yet another "next great better then the Beatles band" took the UK by storm. Their infamous name was the Bay City Rollers. My point is this, it is not whether the Arctic Monkeys are better then the Beatles but whether they would have ever even existed were it not for the Beatles? 'Nuff said?
