Midge Ure's Live Aid Grudge

Scottish rocker MIDGE URE has held a 20-year grudge against Live Aid co-founder SIR Bob Geldof, because he feels he was robbed of the limelight at the charity event.

Despite helping to organise the spectacular 1984 bash, the former ULTRAVOX singer was shifted down the playlist at the last minute.

He explains, "I didn't realise it at the time until the press guys round the bar pointed it out afterwards. One of them came up to me and asked how it felt to be shafted like that.

"I had no idea what they meant, as I'd been told a story about having to swap around the order of appearance because Adam Ant was having technical problems.

"At the time, it didn't bother me in the slightest who went on before who."

But Ure is now convinced the schedule was altered so Geldof's band THE Boomtown Rats could perform in front of the Royal Family.

He adds, "I realised it was all so The Boomtown Rats could perform before the Royals had to leave.

"Bob was being pushed forward and I was being pushed back, so of course my nose was a bit out of joint.

"Nothing could have spoiled the day for me at the time, the more I thought about it in the months afterwards, the more it ate away at me. I felt as if I had been relegated from the main team."
