Metallica's Heavy Tribute

METALLICA ended last night's (28AUG03) MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS in style with heavy rock tributes to LENNY KRAVITZ, NIRVANA, THE WHITE STRIPES and MICHAEL JACKSON.

The group performed the classic riffs from ARE YOU GONNA GO MY WAY, SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT, SEVEN ARMY NATION and BEAT IT as part of a 90-second tribute at the beginning of their ceremony ending set.

The group admitted they wished they had more time to perform more "heavy metal karaoke" tunes as they'd worked on riffs for classic ALICE IN CHAINS, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS and RICKY MARTIN tunes.
