Meet The Fockers Scores A Christmas Hit

BEN STILLER's all-star comedy sequel to MEET THE PARENTS has enjoyed a very merry Christmas, grossing more at the US box office than the rest of the top five films put together.

MEET THE FOCKERS, which reteams Stiller with ROBERT DE NIRO and also features DUSTIN HOFFMAN and BARBRA STREISAND, hauled in an impressive $68.5 million (GBP36 million) in its first five days on release to become the most popular film over Christmas (04).

The big screen adaptation of BILL COSBY's cartoon character FAT ALBERT entered the new box office chart at number two with takings of $12.7 million (GBP6.68 million).

Last week's top film, LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, fell to number three with $12.5 million (GBP6.57 million).

Other new entries in the new US box office top 10 include horror film DARKNESS ($6.4 million/GBP3.4 million) and ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER'S THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA ($4.2 MILLION/GBP2.2 million).
