McGregor: I Want To Be The Next Bond
MOULIN ROUGE! hunk EWAN McGREGOR is poised to become the next JAMES BOND, after being convinced that the role is perfect for him.
The Scottish actor, 32 - who shot to fame in DANNY BOYLE's TRAINSPOTTING - is now competing with COLIN FARRELL, HUGH JACKMAN and CLIVE OWEN for the coveted part, which is being left vacant by current 007 PIERCE BROSNAN next year (04).
And Ewan, who plays OBI-WAN KENOBI in the STAR WARS prequels, promises to sex up the legendary franchise, should he get a chance to play the world's favourite superspy.
He enthuses, "It might take a bigger man than me to turn it down. You would have to think about it in the same way I did with the Star Wars films.
"I spoke to people and I just wanted to do it more and more. I think it would be the same with Bond. There was more sex in my latest film YOUNG ADAM than there was in the last five Bond films."14/12/2003 14:07
