British director JOHN MAYBURY's latest film THE JACKET was originally set to be a Vietnam movie starring COLIN FARRELL.
The 46-year-old film-maker's dark drama would have been a completely different project had producer STEVEN SODERBERGH not asked Maybury to work his magic on it - which included ditching Farrell in favour of ADRIEN BRODY and bringing the film up-to-date.
He says, "It was a Vietnam movie.
"Originally it was going to be a Colin Farrell movie with ANTOINE FUQUA directing, a $60 million crash-bang-wallop film.
"The first Gulf War seemed much more relevant and prescient."
