Marilyn Manson Inquiry Dropped
A criminal inquiry into one of shock rocker MARILYN MANSON's shows held in Switzerland has been dropped.
The Zurich district prosecutor's office says it has found no evidence to back allegations that Manson had incited violence and breached Swiss law protecting religion during a concert in the city in February 2001.
Swiss-based group CHRISTIANS FOR TRUTH had lodged a complaint about the singer and the Zurich prosecutor announced a formal investigation earlier this month (DEC03).
Manson played another sellout concert in Zurich on 30 November (03), as part of his ongoing European tour, and prosecutors questioned him. The prosecutor's office agreed with the TAINTED LOVE rocker's argument that his act is meant to provoke a debate about violence and religion.
Christian groups and lawmakers in Zurich tried unsuccessfully to have the latest concert banned on grounds that Manson's views were offensive to a majority of the population.17/12/2003 09:06
