Mariah Carey To Take To The Stage
Singer Mariah Carey is set to make her theatre debut on London's West End, in a role made famous by Marilyn Monroe.
The Honey hitmaker will star as Elsie in THE SLEEPING PRINCE, which was turned into 1957's THE PRINCE AND THE SHOWGIRL, starring Monroe and LAURENCE OLIVIER.
Mariah will commence rehearsals in London next January (04), and the show will open, possibly at the LYRIC THEATRE, in February or March (03).
And, despite the failure of Mariah's previous venture into acting in 2001 movie Glitter, her managers insist she is serious about this latest endeavour, and will be taking lessons in projection, diction and walking.
The CHARMBRACELET star has long been a fan of the legendary Monroe, and even paid out $800,000 (GBP500,000) four years ago (99) for the tragic star's baby grand piano.
