Man Shot At Ja Rule's Post-Concert Party
A post-concert party hosted by Ja Rule ended on a bad note early Monday morning (20DEC04), when a man was shot shortly after a fight.
According to a police report, the LIVIN' IT UP rapper was standing near the dancefloor at Peoria, Illinois' Club Ignition, speaking to a crowd of people when someone approached him and threw a drink at him.
A scuffle broke out between several males on the dancefloor, but it was broken up by the time police reached the area.
As the club closed moments later and the crowds exited, a gunshot rang out in the vicinity of the venue's stairwell entrance, prompting hundreds of revellers to panic and run.
Peoria resident MARSHALL PAYTON was later found by police, suffering from a small-calibre bullet wound to his left hip. He claims he didn't realise he was shot until he left the club.
Payton was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, where doctors said the bullet did not cause any major damage or strike any bones and didn't need to be removed from Payton's leg.
The incident is still under investigation.23/12/2004 03:24
