Lost Melies Cleopatra Film Found
A short film made more than a century ago by pioneering director GEORGES MELIES has been discovered in a secret storeroom in France.
Lasting just two minutes, CLEOPATRA was the 202nd of 520 works by Melies between 1896 and 1912 and has been hailed as a groundbreaking contribution to cinematic history.
Trained as a magician, Melies soon moved into film and gained international recognition for his classic A TRIP TO THE MOON in 1902.
However he was unable to keep pace with the fast-changing movie industry and died in desperate poverty.
