Lil' Kim Indicted On Multiple Perjury Counts
LATEST: Flamboyant rapper LIL' KIM is facing ten years in jail after being charged with lying to an American grand jury.
The 28-year-old, real KIMBERLY JONES, will go on trial on 15 November until around 6 December (04) at New York's MANHATTAN FEDERAL COURT to face one count of conspiracy, three counts of perjury, three counts of making false statements and one count of obstruction.
The charges, which carry maximum prison terms of between five and 10 years, relate to a shooting outside a Manhattan radio station in 2001, when Kim's and a rap rival's entourage exchanged gunfire after the former had appeared on the HOT 97 radio station with JUNIOR M.A.F.I.A..
The hip-hop queen is accused of claiming DAMION BUTLER, one of her managers, was not present at the incident and that she did not know SUIF JACKSON, a bodyguard and friend who was also present.
Both men were indicted for firing guns during the incident, and are now currently serving prison terms for state weapons charges.
Kim refused to comment on the charges, filed by DISTRICT JUDGE GERARD LYNCH, but her lawyer MEL SACHS says, "Kim is not a criminal.
"These charges have been extracted out of context, magnified out of proportion. She's been singled out and used because of who she is in the music industry."20/04/2004 17:20
