Lennon Musical To Close
A Broadway music based on the life of JOHN LENNON will close after just six weeks on the New York stage, after disappointing audiences and critics alike.
The cast of LENNON, created with help from the former BEATLE's widow YOKO ONO, will take a final bow on 24 September (05) after just 71 performances.
Critics at the New York Times slammed the show's "Ono-centric" look on Lennon's life, pointing out it missed much of his early career and focused largely on his life with Ono at the expense of his first marriage and relationships with other women.
Newsday added, "This is John Lennon, the legend, as filtered through the protective, selective, up-with-people, later-life self-interest of Yoko Ono Lennon."
