Lennon Killer In Release Bid
Tragic rocker JOHN LENNON's murderer could be a free man next month (OCT04), if he satisfies a parole board he's safe to leave jail.
In December 1980, MARK DAVID CHAPMAN shot the BEATLES star in the back outside New York's Dakota Building - Lennon's home with wife YOKO ONO.
Prison officials have confirmed Chapman, 49, faces a parole hearing on 4 October (04) - and will rejoin the outside world if he manages to convince them he's rehabilitated.
However, New York prisons chief ROBERT GANGI insists outraged Lennon fans should remain calm - because Chapman will never be allowed out.
He says, "People like Chapman will never see the light of day as long as the crime is present in our memories."22/09/2004 09:26
