Lemar Scoops Double Mobo Win
British soul sensation LEMAR was the big winner at last night's (22SEP05) Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards in London.
The IF THERE'S ANY JUSTICE singer won the Best Album prize and was named Best UK Act Of The Year - but he narrowly missed a trio of awards when US star JOHN LEGEND scooped the Best R+B Act award.
Rap heavyweights 50 CENT and THE GAME left empty-handed when they were beaten to the Best Hip-Hop Act gong by unsigned London rapper SWAY in a shock decision at the awards ceremony decided by public votes.
Jamaican star DAMIAN MARLEY - who performed alongside his brother STEPHEN at the star-studded event - was named Best Reggae Act, and the WELCOME TO JAMROCK singer also collected the Posthumous Achievement Award on behalf of his late father BOB MARLEY.
