Ang Lee - Lee Shocked By 'Quiet' Response To Brokeback

Director ANG LEE is shocked by the silence from religious groups following the release of his gay cowboy romance BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN.

The CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON film-maker is convinced religious protestors have kept their outrage quiet because they don't want to give the Oscar-nominated movie even more exposure.

He says, "I didn't know they would take a position of deliberate quietness, so that they wouldn't (inadvertently) promote the movie."
