Queen Latifah - Latifah Sued

A New York lawyer is suing QUEEN LATIFAH and the producers of her new movie hit BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE, claiming the comedy was her idea.

MARIE FLAHERTY has filed a $15 million (GBP10 million) copyright lawsuit Friday (28MAR03) against the rapper-turned-actress, insisting the film is a carbon copy of her screenplay A MORAL DILEMMA, which she wrote several years ago about a lawyer who meets a prisoner online.

The movie has been a big hit in America, taking the number one spot on the box office charts for three weeks and chalking up $83.3 million (GBP55.5 million) in the process.

Flaherty plans to represent herself in the impending court case.
