Lapaglia Forced To Rethink Miller Movie Dream

Aussie movie star ANTHONY LAPAGLIA's dreams of adapting ARTHUR MILLER's A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE for the big screen have been dashed by a lack of finance for the project.

The SUMMER OF SAM star originated the role on Broadway, New York, and has spent the past seven years attempting to get the finance for the film.

LaPaglia was hoping to make the film before Miller died, so the great playwright could give him the thumbs up on the project, but he died in February (05).

In his most recent plan for the movie, LaPaglia was hoping to team up with actresses FRANCES McDORMAND and SCARLETT JOHANSSON.

He says, "The loss of Arthur Miller was really hard as well because he was involved from the beginning of the play, right up to the screenplay, right up to the end.

"He was consulting on it all the time and was very excited that we were going to get the film made. He really wanted to see it get made. I wanted it to get made while he could still see it.

"The cast can't commit to doing it because a lot can happen in a year but I hope that they can, but by next year it could be a completely different list of people."
