Labelle: I Don't Deserve Songwriting Gong
R'n'B diva Patti Labelle was delighted to win a Lifetime Achievement Award from THE SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME - because she's never even penned a tune.
The Lady Marmalade chanteuse was presented with the accolade on Thursday night (12JUN03), which has in the past been awarded to Quincy Jones and TONY BENNETT.
LaBelle exclaimed, "I feel like a Queen, and I don't think I'm worthy. That's not my forte, writing songs. But whatever, I'm going to accept it. I'm just blown away that they wanted to choose me as that person."
Other winners at the glitzy ceremony included Little Richard, VAN MORRISON, Phil Collins and QUEEN, who were all inducted in the Hall of Fame.
