Knightley Begged For Film Role
Hollywood beauty KEIRA KNIGHTLEY "begged" director JOHN MAYBURY to give her a part in THE JACKET, after he initially deemed her too innocent for the dark film.
The British actress has shot to fame playing lovable characters in films like BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, but Knightley is desperate to avoid being cast exclusively in lightweight period dramas.
So in a bid to prove to the world she can play naughty as well as nice, she frantically pursued her part in psychological thriller The Jacket until Maybury eventually succumbed.
She says, "All the girls I've done have been quite nice girls. John Maybury didn't want me for the part. He thought I was completely wrong. I begged him, 'Please let me read, because I'm going to be stuck in corsets for the next 20 years.'"09/05/2005 09:31
