Kinks Star Shocked By Queens Bad Language
British royal QUEEN ELIZABETH II stunned THE KINKS singer RAY DAVIES when she honoured him in 2004 by condemning the "b**tards" who had shot him just two months before.
The WATERLOO SUNSET rocker was shot in the leg while chasing a mugger who had just stolen his wallet in New Orleans, Louisiana, in January 2004.
The bullet broke a bone in his leg and Davies needed two major operations to enable him to walk again.
He was still using a walking stick when he picked up a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) honour from Queen Elizabeth II in March 2004 - but was shocked by the monarch's message to him.
After talking about "the violent times we live in" the Queen said, "I hope they catch the b**tards who shot you."
Davies says, "I could hardly believe what I'd heard. I had to wash my ears out afterwards."
