Kimora Lee Simmons Launches Jewellery Company

Russell Simmons' wife Kimora Lee Simmons is adding to her fashion portfolio, by launching her own jewellery company.

The leggy beauty has teamed with jewellery and diamond giant M FABRIKANT + SONS to create SIMMONS JEWELRY COMPANY, which will produce two lines of jewellery + diamonds designed by Simmons.

Kimora, who recently sold her clothing company BABY PHAT, says, "One of my main goals is to inspire African-Americans to own equity in businesses that they influence around the world."

One line of the collection will be named after Naomi Campbell and another line, in negotiation, will be named after famed VOGUE editor ANDRE LEON TALLEY.

Def Jam co-founder Russell adds, "This is significant, because there are not any major African-American owned jewellery companies. The fact is, we in the hip-hop community have made many other brand names famous, yet we don't own anything."
