Kill Bill Slays Box Office Competition
The second part of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill saga has slayed its movie rivals, debuting at the top of the American box office with a haul of $25.6 million (GBP14.2 million).
KILL BILL: VOL 2, with Uma Thurman, was up 16 per cent from the $22.1 million (GBP12.2 million) opening weekend that KILL BILL: VOL 1 delivered last October (03).
Meanwhile, comic-book adaptation The Punisher opened in second place with $14 million (GBP7.7 million), followed by JOHNSON FAMILY VACATION with $6.4 million (GBP3.5 million), Hellboy with $5.7 million (GBP3.1 million) and HOME ON THE RANGE with $5.4 million (GBP3 million).
NIA VARDALOS' CONNIE AND CARLA was unable to recapture the box office magic that made My Big Fat Greek Wedding a blockbuster - finishing well out of the top 10 with $3.26 million (GBP1.8 million).
