Keaton Set To Shock With Cancer Survivor Movie Tribute

Brave DIANE KEATON is set to shock in her new movie THE FAMILY STONE, by appearing with a fake mastectomy in one sex scene.

The actress plays breast cancer survivor SYBIL STONE in the film and agreed to pose topless in one scene with a fake surgical breast removal on show - as a tribute to real-life cancer fighters.

Oscar winner Keaton reveals she actually fought for the controversial bedroom scene, where her character shows off her scarred chest to movie husband CRAIG T NELSON, because she hates the way such delicate scenes have been approached in the past.

She says, "I've seen so many of these cancer movies and there's always the horror of the reveal. You see the back of the woman and they always play it that way.

"This scene was so sweet because, first of all, it was set up (in the film) that I have this illness in kind of a mysterious way - so little was made of it.

"It's dealt with in a way that gives so much respect to people who go through this (breast cancer) in their life that you live with the illness.

"It's not that you're horrified (about losing your breasts). Your life goes on and you still make love with your husband."

While the movie had some sweet points (Keaton's romance scene was one of them), overall it was a terrible movie. The family was nasty, mean-spirited, and rude to their house guest (played by Sarah Jessica Parker). I can't imagine why someone would stay in such a household (in real life, most of us would leave and say "to hell" with such a horrid bunch of people. I guess that wouldn't make much of a movie, but I went in expecting a heart warming Christmas movie and was sorely disappointed. Keaton's character was so nasty and foul-mouthed that it was hard to forget it all when we found out she was dying. It's too bad the subject matter couldn't have been framed in a nicer movie. Some people will say that families like the one in the movie are "realistic." I know some families probably are that way, but I don't think most are. My family and those of my friends aren't. Even disfunctional people have some social graces. If you don't care to be entertained, but just want to watch a bunch of miserable people acting badly, then this is the movie for you.
