John Pays Out For Russian Victims
Pop veteran SIR ELTON JOHN has donated $18,000 (GBP10,000) to an appeal aimed at alleviating the pain of families involved in the recent Russian hostage crisis.
The generous YOUR SONG star and his partner DAVID FURNISH were horrified by the tragic school siege in Beslan last week (ends03SEP04), in which 335 people - many of them children - lost their lives at the hands of Chechen terrorists.
And John admits the tragedy left them so devastated, they immediately leapt into action to help the victims' families in the aftermath of the killing spree.
He says, "This is the most devastating and upsetting thing we have seen in all our lives. We are very pleased to help in any way."
Rocker OZZY OSBOURNE, SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and soccer ace DAVID BECKHAM are just a few of the stars who have written out cheques for the cause.09/09/2004 02:44
