Jerry McGuire Line Inspired By Bush And Rodman

Director CAMERON CROWE has revealed the infamous line 'Show me the money' from JERRY McGUIRE was inspired by a political speech delivered by then US President GEORGE BUSH SR and basketball star DENNIS RODMAN.

The line, still quoted by millions of film fans, has gone down in movie folklore as a perfect piece of scriptwriting, and Crowe is grateful that his influences combined so perfectly.

He says, "I was watching George Bush Sr's State of the Union address and he said, 'These states are going to have to show me the money.' I thought that was weird.

"But it really came from hearing Dennis Rodman's own language. He spoke French some of the time, nonsense French.

"I loved the idea that someone could be so self-obsessed that he created his own language and attempted to teach it to everyone around him."
