Jazz Star Fuller Dies
30 April 2003Jazz trumpet player Walter Fuller has died - he was 93.
The veteran musician started his career in 1930 after being influenced by Louis Armstrong. He spent years helping establish the San Diego jazz scene in the 1940s and was a vocal civil rights campaigner.
He died on 20 April (03) in his native San Diego, California, after suffering from diabetes and related illnesses.
His is survived by his daughter, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
