Jada Upset By Bakery Contest Second Place
Actress Jada Pinkett Smith lost out to a 12-year-old in a bake-off staged in her Los Angeles neighbourhood.
The actress, who is married to Will Smith, fought for first place, and still feels cheated.
She says, "There was a little 12-year-old girl who made a gingerbread boat and I was very upset because I said, 'That's not a cake.' I said, 'Listen, we have the baking rules.'
"They said, 'We'd like to encourage the children.' Forget the kids, man. I don't care about that. We got rules, stick to the rules. I need my first-place ribbon."
But the actress is still thrilled her 7-Up cakes were a hit - and landed her in second place. She adds, "I can actually bake. I can't cook, but I can bake, and I won second and third place. I'm very proud of myself.
"But I find cooking to be just impossible. I can't cook. I always tell Will, 'Thank God we're on good terms with SHEREE (his ex-wife)' - because she cooks all the Christmas dinners and Thanksgiving dinners, and I make the biscuits."08/08/2004 13:58
