Jackson Loses Fourth Lawyer
MICHAEL JACKSON's lawyer BRIAN OXMAN has become the fourth attorney to retire from the child molestation trial, since the singer was charged in 2003.
The THRILLER star's lawyers have told judge RODNEY MELVILLE that Oxman's departure from the case was effective last Thursday (21APR05), but they have refused to explain his sudden exit.
Insiders have speculated Oxman left for health reasons, because he was stretchered away from the Santa Maria, California, court last month (25MAR05) suffering lung pneumonia.
The troubled superstar also lost attorneys MARK GERAGOS and BENJAMIN BRAFFMAN last April (04) and replaced them with THOMAS MESEREAU and SUSAN YU. He lost longtime lawyer STEVE COCHRAN six months later (OCT04).
Jackson has pleaded not guilty to 10 felony charges of child molestation, administering an intoxicating agent and conspiracy involving allegations of child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion.26/04/2005 13:59
