Jackson Costs Cbs Record Fine
Singer JANET JACKSON's breast exposure has cost American TV network CBS a record $550,000 (GBP305,500) fine.
The DAMITA JO star's "wardrobe malfunction" during her SUPER BOWL (FEB04) performance with JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE prompted the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to take action, and they've charged 20 CBS-owned TV stations the maximum penalty for indecency - $27,500 (GBP15,270) each.
The fine is the biggest ever levied against a US TV broadcaster.
However, CBS's affiliate stations - totalling over 200 - have escaped punishment, despite the fact they too aired the show.
CBS's coverage of the flesh-flashing incident sparked a massive 500,000 complaints from outraged TV viewers.23/09/2004 09:22
