Islam Plans Song And Concert For Tsunami Victims

British singer Yusuf Islam has recorded a charity single and arranged a concert in Indonesia to raise money for victims of last month's (26DEC04) tsunami.

The PEACE TRAIN hitmaker, formerly known as CAT STEVENS, composed the song INDIAN OCEAN, with artists including A-Ha's MAGNE FURUHOLMEN, Travis drummer NEIL PRIMROSE and Indian composer A R RAHMAN.

The 56-year-old Muslim convert says, "Like everyone else, I was so shaken by the enormity of this human tragedy, and the song just came without effort. It is my contribution towards helping to rebuild the broken spirits of the victims of the disaster."

Islam has confirmed he will host a concert in Indonesia's stricken Banda Aceh next week (31JAN05) which will feature numerous local artists.

The song hits stores next month (FEB05).
