Interpreter And Pacifier Battle For World Box Office

Political thriller THE INTERPRETER and family comedy THE PACIFIER topped the international box offices at the weekend (16-17APR05).

NICOLE KIDMAN and SEAN PENN's UNITED NATIONS-set film topped the movie charts in Britain, Spain, Greece, Taiwan, The Netherlands, Norway and Portugal, but was beaten to the number one spot by VIN DIESEL's Pacifier in Kidman's native Australia.

The comedy, starring Diesel as a former US Navy SEAL hired as a nanny for five kids, claimed the top spot in Germany, Austria, Hong Kong and Malaysia.

Other chart-toppers included horror sequel THE RING TWO in Italy and Brazil, while the critically-panned MISS CONGENIALITY 2: ARMED AND FABULOUS landed a number one in Mexico.
